Internship Job Description:
The growing Capitol Broadcasting Podcast Network seeks a visionary leader. This is a hands-on producing role helping to grow the offerings and reach of our podcast network. We’re looking for part innovative strategist, part rockstar podcaster who knows how to take shows from concept to completion, manage overlapping workflows, build partnerships and mentor others in the craft of audio storytelling.

Our Ideal Candidate Has
Innovative thinking about podcasting and the future of streaming audio
Experience establishing audio standards, workflow and systems
Experience as the editorial / creative lead for a successful podcast
Experience producing and reporting long-form narrative audio stories
Experience hiring and directing freelance producers
Experience training storytellers in other mediums how to appreciate and work in audio
A track record of finding and maintaining business partnerships with outside content-producing and marketing organizations, generating podcast sponsorship or fresh ideas for paid partnerships
Prior work in a journalistic environment
At least five years of experience in radio, audio production and/or podcasting
Adept with field recording equipment, plus creativity and skills to capture great audio in varied situations
Pro-level usage of Adobe Audition or the equivalent
Understanding of podcast analytics
Demonstrated experience guiding program development and show launch process: creating treatments with audience development criteria, vetting show pitches, leading production phases, generating marketing strategy and assets
Experience reporting, writing, producing, and editing compelling audio storytelling that crosses genres – sample areas: news, entertainment, interview style, documentary/investigative
Successful audience building strategies and execution that includes content marketing, subscription, newsletter, blog and social media
Communication style and relationship-building attributes that make you a great teammate, coach and trainer
Curiosity and a growth mindset
Spreadable passion for audio as a storytelling medium
Willing to pinch hit for any number of tasks needed to produce and distribute a podcast
To be considered, you must provide links to at least three full show examples of your best audio work – not a demo edit – with description of your role in the show. Demonstrate fresh approaches to audio storytelling and/or news programming. Variety of genres encouraged.
