In response to the terrible murders of black and minority peoples, students, faculty, and alumni at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University, and Duke University gathered their resources to develop a three- phase minority development program. Level the Playing Field (LTPF) seeks to rigorously recruit, train, and place minority students into positions of influence. Through a series of workshops, speakers, and curricula in a cohort setting, each student in LTPF is provided with the tools and resources to perform to the best of their ability during their internship in the following summer. We believe that this series of development is an ideal model for career development in minority students that might break the generational and institutional barriers set against them..
