Internship Job Description:

Are you passionate about innovation and love spotlighting creativity? Are you excited about Raleigh’s flourishing innovation ecosystem (startups, social enterprises, universities, and non-profits)? Are you interested in learning more about how innovation is cultivated through public/private partnerships? Come join the City of Raleigh’s new Office of Strategy & Innovation as our Innovation Storyteller Intern and help us spotlight and build our culture of innovation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Through interviews and research, compile a broad diversity of stories of innovation
both within the City of Raleigh’s employees, Impact Partner Grant recipients, and innovation ecosystem partners

2. Research best practices of storytelling by other cities

3. Build a database of past Impact Partner Grant Recipients and updated project information

4. Build a database of City of Raleigh innovation projects and Big Ideas winners

5. Design and implement initial phases of Social Media Strategy Plan to showcase stories and generate excitement internally and externally through City of Raleigh channels and various social media platforms

6. Attend staff meetings, as needed

7. Other duties as determined by the Office of Strategy & Innovation

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

1. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Office, Excel), internet browsers, and web search engines

2. Active knowledge of Social Media channels: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tik-Tok

3. Language skills: Fluent in English

4. Soft skills: Organized, detailed driven, self-motivated, responsive, and able to multi-task in a timely manner, strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to collaborate, strong work ethic and positive attitude, ability to learn quickly, collect and synthesize information easily   

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Current student at a university or recent graduate – preferred fields of study: Business Administration, Entrepreneurship/Social
Entrepreneurship, Communication, Psychology, Marketing & related fields
