Position Title: AI Partnerships, Business Research & Innovation Intern
Company Description: The Tangent Club is an early-stage startup based in Wake Forest, North Carolina, focused on neurodivergent awareness, understanding, acceptance, and support. We’re developing practical tools, digital planners, educational resources, and technology for people with nonlinear minds — and the people who care about them. Our mission is to turn distraction, curiosity, creativity, and chaos into connection, progress, and possibility. We’re also developing TangentOS, a modular AI software platform designed to make artificial intelligence more personal, adaptable, and accessible. Through customizable personas, interchangeable AI models, and modular capabilities, our goal is to create a unified AI experience without requiring users to maintain multiple separate AI subscriptions. We’re early-stage and building toward our first major product releases. Our guiding philosophy is simple: There must be a better way.

Internship Job Description:
Help The Tangent Club understand practical, sustainable ways to offer adaptable AI through TangentOS. This role is a research and business exploration project for a student who enjoys asking questions, comparing options, and explaining findings clearly.
You will research AI providers and aggregators, API pricing, licensing and usage restrictions, startup credits and grants, and potential partnership routes. Explore what sustainable bundled AI access could look like, compare competitors and business models, and distinguish verified facts from assumptions or unanswered questions.
Your tangible outcomes will be a sourced provider comparison matrix, a shortlist of relevant funding and partnership opportunities, outreach drafts for founder review, and commercialization recommendations that explain costs, constraints, and tradeoffs. Outreach drafts are preparation; any external outreach will be reviewed with the founder first. Research, spreadsheet, writing, or business coursework is helpful but not required; prior AI industry experience is not expected.
This paid, part-time internship is primarily remote, based in Wake Forest, NC. Plan for approximately 180 total project hours, generally 15 hours per week during active weeks, arranged flexibly between April 5 and August 5, 2027 to accommodate vacations and academics. The project spans spring and summer; it does not require 15 hours every week throughout the full date range.
First-year students and students still exploring their interests are welcome. Curiosity, thoughtful questions, willingness to try things, and clear documentation matter more than a polished portfolio. Relevant coursework, independent learning, or past projects can help but are not required. You will work with the founder through project scoping, regular check-ins, feedback, and shared problem-solving. This is an early-stage startup: expect a focused learning project with guidance, room to experiment, and realistic goals matched to your starting skills.
