Swik AI

Position Title: Early Team Intern – Product + Engineering
Company Description: Most lending technology is built around the loan: originating it, servicing it, collecting payments, and managing the financing relationship.

But in secured finance, a large part of the risk lives somewhere else: in the underlying assets.

Receivables get created and paid. Inventory moves. Equipment changes condition and value. Yet understanding those assets still often depends on PDFs, spreadsheets, emails, borrower reports, and periodic manual checks.

Swik is building the intelligence infrastructure for asset-based finance – a system that can continuously understand the assets behind financing and help lenders make better, faster decisions.

We’re starting with receivables in factoring and asset-based lending. Our product is already live with paying customers. We’ve crossed the initial zero-to-one stage; now we’re figuring out how to turn what works into something much bigger.

We’re based in Chapel Hill and are building the early team around that mission.

Internship Job Description:

We’re looking for an early team member who wants to help build Swik with us.

We’re calling this an internship because it’s an easy way to start working together. There isn’t a tightly defined job description.

You might be an engineer who wants to work much closer to customers and product. You might sit somewhere between product and engineering. You might be exceptional at prototyping, AI, data, design, customer discovery, or turning messy problems into something people can actually use.

We have a strong bias toward technical builders. But if you’re not an engineer and think you could create meaningful leverage for Swik, we still want to hear your argument. Tell us what you could own, what you want to become unusually good at, and what you hope to get out of building with us.

Some of the problems in front of us include understanding messy commercial documents and data, turning that evidence into asset-level intelligence, designing workflows financial institutions will actually adopt, building AI systems and integrations, and creating entirely new ways for lenders to monitor collateral continuously.

Over time, we want you to define what you own.

We’re especially drawn to people with a commando mindset: high-agency builders who are comfortable with incomplete information, cross boundaries when necessary, figure things out without waiting for a perfect playbook, and find a way to get something useful into a customer’s hands. Moving fast matters, but so does turning what works into a real product.

This will probably be a good fit if ambiguity gives you energy rather than anxiety.

If this sounds interesting, please email me (yogi@swik.ai) a note telling me:

– Why this problem interests you
– Why you
– Something cool you’ve built, created, researched, started, or figured out
– What you think you might want to own at Swik

That “something cool” does not have to be a startup or even software. We want to understand how you think and what happens when you become interested in a problem.

If there seems to be a fit, let’s grab a coffee and talk.

This role is intended primarily for people who can work with us in person in Chapel Hill, NC. We’re unfortunately unable to sponsor work visas at this stage.

The initial commitment can be flexible. If we work well together, the opportunity can grow substantially as Swik grows.

This may begin as an unpaid internship, with the intent to transition to paid compensation as Swik grows. If compensation is a constraint, please still reach out – we’re open to discussing what could work.
